All Welcome Class

Yoga is any practice that leads to the quietening (or peacefulness) of the mind.  Therefore the physical practice of yoga is aimed at quietening the breath and body to enable yogis to have the stamina to meditate.

The intent of the All Welcome Classes are to:

  • Enable you to have the underlying principles of yoga postures and their application in your daily life.
  • Raise your body awareness and improving your posture by understanding how and why you move the way you do.  We all have movement patterns that are habitual and if you have frequent aches and pains, then this is a must.
  • Understand the difference between doing exercise and doing yoga.  Hatha yoga is about creating a quiet and healthy body.  A quiet body is when it feels absolutely wonderful and vital.  It is only when your body has pain, fatigue, not feeling well, abused by poor diet, drugs etc that the body complains and is not quiet.
  • Enable you to be aware of, and use the “story” of your breath, and understand why it is so important to your well-being to develop a quiet and steady breath.
  • Enable you to relax and learn the techniques of relaxation and self-calming to help you have a more contented life.
  • Show that physical yoga is only the very beginning of a yoga practice, by including other practices for helping you quieting the mind (and maybe interest you enough to do the more advanced yoga practice of meditation).
  • You will also learn how to relax and be less stressed for your life outside of the yoga room.  Being kind to yourself physically and mentally, instead of the “no pain no gain” attitude which is very commonly held, will make your way in life positively different and help you towards contentment.

All levels are welcome, as individual attention is given.  However for beginners Friday morning is the gentlest.

The All Welcome Classes are on at 7.00 to 8.30pm on Tuesday and Thursday, 10.00 to 11.30am and 6.30 to 8.00pm on Friday.

The classes goes for an hour and a half.
