Meditation & Relaxation theory & practice Class

Europe 2008 817

The intent of the Meditation Class, is to introduce you to, and enhance your ability to meditate by:

  • learning the physical techniques for either sitting or moving quietly in meditation
  • improving your concentration and ability to stay focused.
  • being introduced to mantra as a facilitation to meditation.
  • Understanding and practicing and the theory of the meditation process.
  • Being made aware of the processes of meditation so that when you are inevitably challenged, you have the skills and knowledge to help with those challenges.

A class typically will begin with relaxation to enable you to leave behind the busyness of the day, then do some mindfulness moving to prepare your body for meditation, and then readings to increase your knowledge of the meditation process and practice and sometimes mantra as another technique for mindfulness.  Lastly to practice meditation (usually about 1/2 hour).  The proportion of time for each part will depend upon your current experience.

Meditation is the most rewarding and most challenging yoga practice that you can undertake.  This would seem to be a much over-inflated statement, if you have had no exposure to attempting meditation.  Only the doing of a meditation practice will prove the truth of this.

In theory meditation can be for anyone, however there are people not suited to it due to the nature of the eventual self-enquiry processes.

The Meditation Class will start at 7.00pm on Wednesday evenings.
